THE DAILY BLADE: Has Obama Been Humbled?

Was it really just last week that President Barack Hussein Obama “dared” Republicans to run against healthcare “reform” in the midterm elections? Well, Senator-elect Scott Brown (R-MA) made his opposition to the bills passed by the House and Senate the centerpiece of his campaign, repeatedly promising to be “the 41st vote” that prevents Democrats from invoking cloture to shut down debate on a bill.

Now, Brown’s campaign is being regarded as a template for Republicans in the mid-term elections this November – and he’s already being thought of as a potential presidential candidate.

According to New York Times columnist Ross Douthat:

There’s a scenario, believe it or not, in which Scott Brown’s stunning win last night could actually end up forestalling a massive G.O.P. sweep next November. It involves Barack Obama swallowing his pride, behaving like a President who’s just been thumped, and making a very public show of internalizing the lessons of last night in Massachusetts.

Well, count The Stiletto amongst those who don’t believe it. In response to her post, “John Edwards’ Unbridled Ego,” reader Nick From NY pointed The Stiletto to Sam Vaknin, an expert on narcissistic personality disorder (malignant self love), who has characterized Obama as an NPD, because he “displays behaviors [that] are among the hallmarks of pathological narcissism.” These include:

Subtly misrepresents facts and … opportunistically shifts positions, views, opinions, and "ideals"; ignores data that conflict with his … inflated and grandiose self-image; talks about himself in the 3rd person singluar [sic] or uses the regal "we" and craves to be the exclsuive [sic] center of attention, even adulation; a messianic-cosmic vision of himself and his life and his "mission"; displays false modesty and unctuous "folksiness" but unable to sustain these behaviors (the persona, or mask) … and the true Obama is revealed: haughty, aloof, distant, and disdainful of simple folk and their lives.

Based on Vaknin's description of Obama’s personality, it seems unlikely that he will swallow his pride and back down on the grandiose (and exorbitant) agenda upon which he planned to build his legacy (second item).

Given that voter turnout was heavier in this special election than in any non-presidential general election in the state 1990 and the size of Brown’s margin over Martha Coakley (52 per cent to 47 percent), the voters of MA clearly meant to hit Obama upside the head for, amongst other things: arrogance (both his and Congressional Dems), continually blaming the previous administration for his failures, lack of bipartisanship, dismissing the concerns of voters who do not agree with his legislative priorities - in particular, healthcare “reform” and cap-and-trade - given the state of the economy, and tripling the deficit since assuming office – voters who turned on Republicans for irresponsible spending a year ago weren’t about to give Obama an open checkbook just because he was not George Bush. Most of all, one year into Obama's only term as president, they wanted change.

But what was Obama’s take-away message? Here’s what he told George Stephanopoulos in an interview with “Nightline”:

The same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office.  People are angry, and they're frustrated. Not just because of what's happened in the last year or two years, but what's happened over the last eight years.

Vaknin is dead on.

Editorial Note: This post was corrected because The Stiletto meant to type "Nightline," but instead typed "Good Morning America," because the black of night is all she sees when she leaves for work and when she comes home from work and she's gotten discombobulated. Eastern Standard time can't come soon enough for The Stiletto, but she's gonna have to wait until the groundhog from that hard-to-spell town in PA turns the clock forward one hour.

Let’s assume Obama overcame his NPD and actually became personally humbled by this event. The truth is that he and his strategic team (David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel) are so beholden to the financial powers of George Soros (who is the Dr. Evil behind all of the machinations that got Obama elected) that their only option is career suicide. There are simply too many skeletons in the closet and too many bodies left to be buried. These guys are a toxic trio.
